Anastasiu joined Telefon Club Bucharest in 1933 and played with an assortment of teams in the capital during his career. He won the Romanian Championship nine times. Constantin Tico and Andrei Barbulescu were frequent linemates; together they were known as the "Trei Muschetari" (Three Musketeers).
Internationally, he made his debut with the Romanian National Team at the 1931 World Championship. Anastasiu enjoyed a long international career, playing for Romania at seven World Championships and one European Championship. His final appearance was at the 1947 World Championship.
Anastasiu was sometimes called a "Romanian Canadian" in the local newspapers. He was also a talented speed skater.
