Jaroslav Jirkovsky (March 8, 1891 – November 2, 1971) was a Czechoslovak/Bohemian ice hockey player.
Biography[]
Jirkovsky enjoyed a long club career, spanning a quarter-century, with SK Slavia Praha. He also had a brief stint with the Vienna-based Sportklub Slovan in 1914-15 and served as a player-coach in Slovakia during the 1920s.
One of the top pre-WWI European players, Jirkovsky was a fast skater who was a skilled stickhandler and possessed an excellent shot. He was an excellent goalscorer. Internationally, he played for the Bohemian National Team and later the Czechoslovak outfit on numerous occasions.
He served as a telegraphist in World War I. Jirkovsky spent five years in a Russian labor camp (1915-1920) after being captured.
