Algeria is a country in Northern Africa. Algiers is the capital and largest city.

History of hockey in Algeria[]

In 2006, an unofficial Algerian Ice Hockey Association was founded. In 2007, it changed its name to the Algerian Ice Hockey and Inline Federation.[1] There are three rinks in Algiers and one in Tizi Ouzou (all synthetic).

The Algerian National Team made its international debut at the 2008 Arab Cup of Ice Hockey. They lost all five games they played in, and finished in fourth and last place at the tournament. Harond Litim led the team in scoring with 11 points.

In May 2009, the national team played two games against the French club, Viry Chatillon. Viry Chatillon won the first game 11-3, but the Algerians won the second game, 6-5.

On April 30, 2011, the national team played a game against les Peaux Rouges d'Evry (a French side). The match ended in an 8-8 deadlock.

Some notable members of the national team include Karim Kerbouche, Harond Litim, Kevin Benchabane, Felix Chougui, Nassim Boulakdem, Said Sebaa, Hichem Bourabreb, and Khalid Abdulwahid.
